  1. A joint in any animal with a SKELETON, is a 
  2. point of movement or articulation. In 
  3. vertebrates, it is the point where two bones 
  4. meet. Some joints allow no motion (the 
  5. sutures of the skull), others allow a very 
  6. small motion (the sacroiliac joints in the 
  7. lower back), but most allow a relatively free 
  8. motion.
